Ladies' Aid
Ladies' Aid, May 27, 2010, 6:30 PM
Pizza was served by hostesses Marcy and Cathy for the last meeting before the summer recess. Pastor Siverly gave a devotion based on Rom. 5:1-5. We have reasons to rejoice in our sufferings which build perseverance, character and the hope of Heaven.
VP Cathy Meyer called to order the business meeting. The minutes of the April meeting and the treasurer's report were read and approved. Jean also read a letter from Dave Nack of the WELS Prison Ministry thanking our group for our recent donation. They currently serve 53,500 prisoners with Bible studies.
Marti Klindworth, our Lutheran Women's Missionary Society Reporter, brought us up to date on plans for the national convention of LWMS which will be held in St. Louis June 24-27. Marti will be attending as a delegate from our congregation.
This coming Oct. 2, the ladies of St. Mark will be hosting the Fall Rally of the Minnesota Valley Circuit of LWMS. The theme is "The Doors are Opening-Knock and the door will be opened to you." Watch for further information and sign up to help with this event.
The treasurer's books have been audited and found to be in order. President Laura Jaeger and VP Cathy Meyer asked for people to fill next year's offices. Those nominated were Naomi Schultz, secretary; Jean Jurgenson, treasurer; Cathy Meyer, VP; Michele Wiederich, president. A motion was made and seconded to cease nominations. The motion passed and a motion was made to cast a unanimous vote for the slate of new officers. The motion passed. The outgoing officers were thanked for their service.
The next meeting of St. Mark's Ladies' Aid will be August 25. The meeting was adjourned. Michele Wiederich, secretary.
Light of Faith
Light of Faith's Purpose
St.. Mark Lutheran Church has been blessed with many faithful, friendly, and talented members. Our members have an opportunity to serve our gracious Lord through Light of Faith.
Light of Faith is a committee formed by members of St. Mark Lutheran Church. The mission of this group is to encourage members of all ages to serve the Lord at planned events and programs for our church and school. The Lord says in I Thessalonians 5:11, Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. We can follow these words by encouraging one another to serve at St. Mark Lutheran Church with a happy and willing heart!
It is our prayer that the Holy Spirit continues to light faith in the heart of each member and that the fruit of our faith will help revitalize and benefit our church and school.
All members are encouraged and welcome to attend monthly Light of Faith meetings. These meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to faithfully working with other church organizations. Together we can serve St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and ultimately, the Lord!
Light of Faith held our most recent meeting in the St. Mark's basement at 6:30 pm on 6/8/10. The meeting was attended by Laura Jaeger, Gwen Tjernagel, Jenna Schumann, and Jennifer Schwertfeger.
